Bumpers and nerf bars are the first thing to make contact in traffic, protecting wheels, tires, and chassis tubes from damage that would otherwise end a night. They have to absorb a hit and stay attached without transferring the load into the frame. Swedged ends drop into the chassis for a clean fit, and a straight replacement gets a car back out between races.
Anyone racing in traffic treats these as regularly replaced hardware.
